The Rebirth of Steez: Our Journey from the Stage to Streetwear and Back Again

The Rebirth of Steez: Our Journey from the Stage to Streetwear and Back Again

by Derek Discanio

Hey Steez fam,

Derek here, frontman of State Champs and co-founder of Steez, along with my best friend and co-founder, Justin. We've got a story to tell, and it's one of friendship, creativity, and resilience. Grab a seat, throw on your Steez gear, and let's dive in.

Born in the Eye of the Storm

Back in 2020, when the world seemed to be falling apart, Justin and I decided to create something together. Steez was born in the chaos of COVID, a brand that fused the raw energy of punk rock with the attitude of streetwear. It was our way of saying, "Hey, even when everything's going to shit, we can still make something cool."

We had no idea what we were doing, but we knew we wanted to create clothes that felt like us - edgy, unapologetic, and ready to take on the world. And you know what? You all showed up. You got it. You wore our stuff with pride, and for that, we'll always be grateful.

The Highs and the Lows

For a couple of years, we rode the wave. Justin and I poured everything we had into this brand. We dropped collections that we were proud of, collaborated with artists we admired, and built a community that felt more like family. It was everything we'd hoped for and more.

But life has a way of throwing curveballs, doesn't it?

Last December, we got hit with news that felt like a sucker punch to the gut. Our merchandising partner, the backbone of our production, shut their doors. Just like that, our entire inventory was caught up in bankruptcy proceedings, out of our reach and at the mercy of the banks.

It felt like the end. We'd poured our hearts and souls into Steez, and in the blink of an eye, it seemed like it was all over.

The Comeback Kids

But here's the thing about people like us - we don't know how to stay down. We've been knocked around in mosh pits and navigated our concrete jungle cities. We know how to get back up.

So, here we are. Bruised but not beaten. Older, wiser, and more determined than ever.

Steez is back, and this time, we're doing it on our own terms. We've learned from our mistakes, we've tightened our crew, and we're ready to create clothes that speak to the rebel in all of us.

What's Next?

We're starting fresh, with new designs that capture the spirit of Steez but push us into new territory. Expect the unexpected - collaborations that will blow your mind, limited drops that you'll want to fight for, and a level of quality that we can stand behind 100%.

But more than anything, we want to rebuild our community. Steez was never just about the clothes - it was about the people who wore them, the stories they told, the stages they rocked, and the streets they owned.

We're here because of you, and we're coming back stronger because of you.

Join the Rebellion

So, here's our call to arms. If you've ever felt like an outsider, if you've ever been told to turn your music down, if you've ever been judged for the way you dress or the way you live - Steez is for you.

We're relaunching soon, and we want you to be part of it. Follow us on social media, sign up for our newsletter, and get ready for the rebirth of Steez.

This isn't just a comeback. It's a rebellion. And it starts now.

Stay tuned, stay loud, and most importantly, don’t forget to DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.
